Uplifting #OceanClimateAction

I worked with a national environmental organization and its partners to support a years-long communications and digital campaign to elevate the ocean as a climate solution at the highest levels of the federal government.

The work spanned countless campaigns, channels, and moments — from the rollout of the Biden administration's first-ever Ocean Climate Action Plan to its one-year anniversary — and required translating complex ocean science and policy into content that moved people. The campaign's most striking moment came from a video we developed featuring young climate activists, reaching members of the Biden administration. Across social media, press, and digital storytelling, the goal was always the same: make people feel the ocean not as a victim of the climate crisis, but as one of its most powerful solutions.

Building the Digital Home for Ocean Climate Action

I designed and maintained the Ocean Climate Action website, the central hub for the movement's policy priorities, progress tracking, and public engagement. From data visualization to content updates tied to breaking policy moments, the site had to function as both a living advocacy tool and an educational resource — translating dense climate science into something a policymaker, journalist, or first-time visitor could immediately understand and act on.

Amplifying Youth Voices for Ocean Climate Action

As part of the Ocean Climate Action campaign, I produced a video featuring GenSea — a network of young ocean climate advocates — sharing what the Biden administration's Ocean Climate Action Plan meant to them. The video was designed to put youth voices at the center of a policy moment that would shape their future, and to remind decision-makers in Washington who, ultimately, they were acting for.

Taking Ocean Climate Action to the World Stage

Ahead of the annual Our Ocean Conference, I wrote, produced, and edited a video featuring members of Congress — including Rep. Jared Huffman, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. Ed Case, and Rep. Chellie Pingree — speaking to America's ocean climate leadership and the urgent need to carry that momentum onto the world stage. I coordinated directly with congressional staff to capture remarks, weaving together voices from Rhode Island to California to Hawaii to Maine into a unified message about what the Biden administration's Ocean Climate Action Plan and historic ocean funding had made possible.
